Downtown Delaware is now accepting ParkMobile payments in all of the metered parking areas in the city, including those spots in the city’s four municipal parking lots. The rate for parking is $1.00 per hour. Parking meters can be paid by credit/debit card, coin, and ParkMobile (see below for more information on ParkMobile).

The City of Delaware offers paid parking options in the downtown area, and free parking options with time limits.
Paid Parking (hourly or all-day)
The cost to park in the paid zones, including in municipal lots No.1, 2, 3 and 4, is $1.00 per hour, as of April 1, 2024, and is enforced by Delaware Parking Control personnel. Paid parking is available Monday through Friday from 9 am-5 pm. Parking on Saturdays and Sundays is free. Parking rates are $1.00/hour or $8.00/day. Download the ParkMobile app on your smartphone, scan the QR code on the parking lot signs, or text the word “park” to 77223. Don’t have a smartphone? No problem. Call 877-727-5301 to begin the pay-to-park process.
Free Parking (time limit)
Free downtown parking is for a maximum of 2-hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am-6 pm and is enforced by Delaware Parking Control personnel.
Free Parking (no time limit)
Free parking with no time limits is offered in city parking lots No. 5 and No. 6.

Parking Penalties
Parking tickets generally cost $25 for not paying the meter and remaining parked longer than the posted time limit. If left unpaid after 30 days, an additional $20 fee is added to the ticket. Beyond 30 days, unpaid tickets may be sent to a collections agency and your vehicle may be towed. Union Street between 8 am and 5 pm Monday through Friday to pay for your parking ticket (Police Department only accepts cash or check). Questions? Reserve a Monthly Permit
Purchase a monthly permit for $50.00 plus applicable fees and park in the red areas on the map or in any of our four City parking lots.
