October First Friday: Fire Prevention and More!
October 4 / 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
October’s First Friday will feature fire trucks and firefighters, a free yoga class with a nationally known instructor and wounded warrior, and the much-anticipated unveiling and dedication of the President Rutherford B. Hayes statue.
From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on October 4th, the Delaware Fire Department will have fire trucks and other equipment on display for children to explore, and city firefighters will be on hand to present fire-extinguisher demonstrations and more to help keep the community safe.
Main Street Delaware also will partner with The Wonder Within yoga studio, 29 N. Sandusky St., to provide an inspiring class with Dan Nevins, Baptiste yoga teacher, U.S. Army veteran, and wounded warrior. At 7:30 p.m. Nevins will teach a free 30-minute yoga class designed to “ignite your body, inspire and elevate your perspective.” Although the class is free, those who wish to attend are asked to register online at www.thewonderwithin.com as space is limited. And don’t forget to bring your mat!
Also during October’s First Friday at 6:30 p.m., the President Hayes Memorial Committee will dedicate and unveil the “Rutherford B. Hayes Comes Home” memorial statue at the southwest corner of Sandusky and William streets. Complete with a fountain, the statue will permanently pay tribute to Delaware’s native son and 19th president of the United States.
October’s First Friday, sponsored by Performance Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Delaware and COhatch will be jam packed with activities and free fun for the whole family!
