Good news, the Farmers’ Markets will continue!
We believe one of the keys to winning this fight is ensuring reliable agriculture and food systems for the short and long term.
The governor’s recognition of agriculture as an essential service should give consumers throughout our community peace of mind when it comes to our healthy, safe and affordable food supply. At this time, it is the recommendation of the Delaware General Health District as well as the City of Delaware that we temporarily relocate our Farmers’ Market away from historic downtown. We have explored several different options and based on the needs, and amenities of both our vendors and customers we have decided that the Delaware County Fairgrounds is the best local alternative. Making this change was not an easy decision, but we know that many organizations have had to make tough decisions and we are proud to still be able to continue this resource for the community.
Our health professionals and city leadership will continue to evaluate the situation on a weekly basis and let us know when we are able to move the market back downtown.
Thank you to our partners at United Way of Delaware County for helping make this possible!
