On August 30, 2012 Main Street Delaware installed it's first piece of temporary public art in the downtown. The piece was submitted by Jonathan Quick. Jonathan Quick is an artist/educator teaching sculpture at Ohio Wesleyan University. His work is found in numerous public and private collections. Main Street Delaware's Design Committee put out a call for art early this summer. After more than 2 years of research on communities who host public art in their downtown, we finally came to the decision that temporary installations was the way to go for our downtown. Artists can submit artwork to us by downloading the call for art form on this page. Submitted artwork will be reviewed by our Design Committee. Design Committee then chooses a location appropriate for the piece in the downtown and facilitates the proper permitting with the city of Delaware and installation. Our hope is to have a rotation of at least three pieces in the downtown at any given time. Jonathan Quick's piece will be in place near our new Main Street office at 20 E. Winter Street until the first week of December.
